The beautiful Palaruvi waterfalls in Kollam district falls from a height of 300 feet and undoubtedly one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Kerala. It is one of the popular picnic spots for travelers from all over south India and becoming popular amongst foreigners too. The structure of these falls is friendly for swimming and there is a separate location for kids and ladies to take bath here. The name Palaruvi means 'Stream of Milk' in regional language. It is said that the water from this stream does have medicinal properties because the water cross over various medicinal plants and at last this comes to the falls. As the name express, these waterfalls look just like the fall of milk from the height of 300 feet.

81 Kms from Kollam and 11 km from Thenmala Dam. The nearest airport is Trivandrum International Airport and the nearest railway station is Aryankavu Railway Station.

Located in Kollam District. Trekking is worth memorable. Authorities will charge 2O rupees from local visitors and INR 40 foreigners.

 

Thusharagiri Waterfalls

Perunthenaruvi, the word meaning 'Great honey stream' probably the stream from the enormous beehives from the dense forest. The Perunthenaruvi waterfalls flow down a rocky bed and fall into a pool through multiple streams from a height of 100 feet. Perunthenaruvi waterfalls are ideal to spend some time swimming and playing in the water and enjoy stunning views. The surrounding green forests give a spectacular experience for the visitors and it is not recommended to bring your kids due to lack of safety measures. Located in Pathanamthitta District. Ideal for a secluded picnic, not safe for trekking as the rocks can be dangerous and slippery during Monsoon.
